Hospital staff

Susan Salter is Brazos Animal Hospital's lead receptionist. A staff member since 2003, Susan loves the family-like atmosphere at the hospital.
Susan's hobbies include horseback riding and camping. At home, she cares for Stetson, a Boxer, and 11 cats: Socks, Chester, Festus, Miss Kitty, Dillon, Maw Smalley, Doc, Newly, Quint, Sam and Louie.

Receptionist Malinda Montgomery is a registered breeder of Boer goats. Originally from Perrin, Texas, Malinda enjoys the caring, family-like atmosphere of the hospital
In addition to breeding goats, Malinda cares for Lady and Rio, a pair of horses, along with four dogs. She enjoys gardening, riding horses and spending time with her grandchildren.
Helena Tafolla is a Kennel Assistant who has been a member of the Brazos Animal Hospital staff since June of 2011. She is from Mineral Well, Texas, and currently attends Mineral Wells High School. She plans on continuing her studies and becoming a veterinarian.
“I enjoy the animals and I find helping animals to be really interesting,” she says. “I also love the environment I am in. It gives me the feel of being a veterinarian.”
Helena’s pets include a Terrier and she enjoys playing soccer, track, shopping, fishing, and swimming.
Our Kennel Manager, Melony Lujan, has been with Brazos Animal Hospital since November of 2009, but began her career in companion animal care in 2006. A native of Marfa, Texas, she now resides in Weatherford where she attended Weatherford College and received Veterinary Assistant certification.
“Here at Brazos Animal Hospital everyone is treated like family,” she says. “I love working here because we all work so well as a team. I couldn’t have asked for better teammates.”
At home, Melony has an Australian shepherd named Missy. She enjoys reading, looking up history of surrounding towns, swimming and playing soccer with her two boys.
Danny Tucker has been the Pet Stylist and Groomer at Brazos Animal Hospital since August of 2011, but began his career in companion animal care in 1991. In addition to his many years of experience, he is certified as a groomer by PetSmart Grooming Academy and has an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Kaplan University. Danny is also the Director and Newsletter Editor of the Arabian Horse Association, breeds straight Arabian horses, and founding director of K9 Nation Animal Advocacy Group.
“I’ve just begun my employment at Brazos Animal Hospital, however, during my time here I have found the staff to be very friendly and professional,” he says of his decision to join our team. “The atmosphere of the hospital is inviting and well maintained.”
His pets include three miniature Schnauzers named Zephyr, Macie and Nina; a Dachshund named Mai Tai; Boxer named Gypsee; Beagle named Barney; and a Cur Dog named Charlie. Danny’s interests include traveling (he has visited more than 50 countries) and memberships in a range of organizations dedicated to animal welfare such as the Arabian Horse Association, World Arabian Horse Organization, Pyramid Society, and the Legacy Arabian Horse Club.
